February 2015 | Oatmeal Stout | KCK Soapery

Presenting my first soap after a two week hiatus. Inspired by the coming Saint Patrick's Day.  This is my version of a Leprechaun's Lair.

I used teal, green shimmer and a golden yellow for my colors.  Fragranced with "Oatmeal Stout" fragrance oil.  Was thinking of making another beer soap, but I wanted to see how the fragrance oil will behave with water first.  It did thicken a bit but manageable enough that I was able to do the "in-the-pot" swirl with it.   I was hoping for the Irish hubby to be reminded with beer upon smelling this but he said it smells like "Cinnamon".

Of course with Leprechauns in mind, I have to make some golden balls as well.

These were made with "melt and pour" soap and they came out just perfect.

Oils and butters with the colorants. Oils included in this new basic recipe I concocted and love,  Olive Oil, Coconut Oil, Palm Oil, Castor Oil, Shea Butter and Mango Butter.  The green and teal ended up looking the same or maybe the fragrance oil morphed the color since the final product did not have both shades of green.

After pouring the soap batter.  You can still see a lot of the white.

Before cutting, most of the white has morphed to brown.

I think the batch turned out ok considering that it has been two weeks since I last made a handmade soap made from scratch.  Will be observing for more morphing of colors in the next few days.

Thank you for stopping by!
