October 2014 | Mistletoe & Ivy | KCK Soapery

Last week was just crazy busy with lots of things going on.  Fortunately, I was able make soaps over the weekend to make up for the non-productive soaping weekdays.

Ingredients for this batch include the following Coconut Oil, Olive Oil, Rice Bran Oil, Palm Oil, Mango Butter and Palm Oil, additive Kaolin Clay.

I would have wanted the colors to be more vivid but I like how the swirls turned out.

Happy Soaping!

September 2014 | Unscented Camo 2 | KCK Soapery

The hubby has been asking for another camo soap for the past couple of weeks.   I was hesitant because I was afraid I might not be able to do an exact duplicate of my previous camo soaps.  With the hunting season already here I had to produce.  So here is my second unscented camo soap.

Ingredients include Coconut oil, Olive oil, Rice Bran oil, Palm oil, Mango Butter, Castor oil and Avocado oil.  Colored with woodland green, activated charcoal, titanium dioxide and cappuccino mica.  Since even hunters will enjoy good skin loving additives I added Tussah silk, colloidal oatmeal and Kaolin clay.

I am quite happy with how the colors turned out.

September 2014 | Avobath In The Pot | KCK Soapery

Always up for a new challenge so when I received a request for an Avocado base soap I quickly studied what might work and this is what my friend who likes playing with food recipes and I came up with.

Love pictures of a newly molded soaps and I got the lighting just right for this one.  Ingredients suggested was of course Avocado oil and Sweet Almond oil.  I found a recipe online with Palm oil, Palm Kernel oil and I added my favorite ingredients Mango Butter and Coconut oil.

Colors used were woodland green, stained glass yellow and titanium dioxide.    Additives added were my newly found favorite Tussah silk, colloidal oatmeal and kaolin clay.

Fragranced with Avobath and we used the "in the pot" swirl for this batch.

The hubby described the scent as "lemony clean".  I liked the creaminess of the look and the glide of the soap loaf.  It is so shiny and smooth.  But with tiny specks of white which we realized (after watching the video) was due to the fact that we did not do enough blending after we transferred the titanium dioxide to the main soap batter.  Since I add titanium dioxide only for making the soap white, let's just pretend the specks were intentional.

Over all we are happy with what we produced.  Can't wait for this batch to completely cure so we can check out how it will perform in the shower or bath.

Thank you for visiting!

July 2014 | Unscented Camo | KCK Soapery

Since hunting season is just around the corner the hubby requested for an unscented handmade soap for hunters.  Today, I made this unscented camouflage soap for our game seekers.  This contains Coconut oil, Olive oil, Rice Bran oil, Palm oil, Mango butter and Castor oil.

I cut the soap straight and crinkle.  The hubby likes the look of crinkle cut.  I have both cutters so I cut them both ways.

Colors used were titanium dioxide, activated charcoal, woodland green and cappuccino mica.  This batch was made using a soaping process without waiting for the lye/water solution to come to lower temperature.  Usually I soap at 100 degrees, some soapers soap at room temperature and this time this was hot.  It did turn out and I am happy with the colors.

Happy Hunting!

Video below is the making of the soap:

July 2014 | S's Cupcakes | KCK Soapery

Last week's creation.  The cupcakes were made for a friend who ordered these as a giveaway for her big "0" get together with friends.  So honored to be given this opportunity to share some delightful, no calorie yummy goodness.  I surely hope her friends and the celebrant herself will truly enjoy and want more of these full size cupcakes.

Ingredients were olive oil, palm oil, coconut oil, rice bran oil, cocoa butter, mango butter, and castor oil.  Colored with titanium dioxide for the white, neon pink and cappuccino mica.  Fragranced used for the brown cupcake base is "Butt Naked" described to have a tantalizing base note medley of granny smith apples and honeydew melon, middle notes of strawberries and pears, with hints of spice.  The white base was fragranced with "Honeysuckle" , fresh ozonic honeysuckle blend with hints of jasmine, rose, and lilac.  The frosting was "Baby Clean" which is a unique and calming fragrance oil, has top notes of granny smith apple, lemon zest, and hints of mint, rounded out with blossoms of spring wildflowers, butterfly violets & honeysuckle.

The top were then sprinkled with iridescent glitter sparkles and then off to the oven they went.   Thank you very much "S" for the opportunity to share with you and your friends my creations.

Hope you all enjoy and love using them as much as I love making them.

Wherever we are, it is our friends that make our world.

July 2014 | Bedtime Bath Hidden Hanger Swirl | KCK Soapery

Thankfully, I was able to make a batch of soap yesterday which would make my production level slow down to only one loaf a week for the summer instead of two or three loaves every week during the school months.

Always love the look of freshly poured soap batter.  Ingredients were coconut oil, olive oil, rice bran oil, palm kernel flakes oil, mango butter, cocoa butter and castor oil.  The same ingredients I used for my first coffee soap without the coffee grounds.

Ready to be cut.  This loaf was fragranced with Bedtime Bath type fragrance oil from Nature's Garden which is described as a the soothing bedtime blend of mandarin, lavender and chamomile, neroli and lily of the valley.  Bottom notes of hay and musk.  This description inspired the color choice which includes titanium dioxide for white, deep purple and neon laser lemon dye.  The top was sprinkled with iridescent sparkle glitter.

The hidden hanger swirl were ok but not as impressive as I had envisioned them to be.

June 2014 | Lemongrass Verbena - Palm Free Soap | KCK Soapery

So proud of my mom's third batch of soap.  Told my mom to just have fun and look at what she made.  A beautiful fragrant soap loaf.   Each bar has their own swirl pattern.

Picture above was taken after I finished playing with the design of the top.  I can't resist and has to play with the batter every now and then.  I thought I've mixed the white and yellow so much that the color will just be a very muted yellow.  Colorants use were neon laser lemon dye powder and titanium dioxide.  So I oven processed the batch which usually gives me a brighter color.

This picture was taken after the mold was taken out of the oven.

With the help of an online soap calculator we came up with this recipe.  Coconut oil, Olive oil, Rice Bran oil, Mango butter, Sweet Almond oil, Avocado oil and Castor oil.

Fragranced with Lemongrass Verbena and the hubby said I should always have a stock of this on hand.  The fragrance is described as an enticing blend of citrusy, refreshing lemongrass and leafy green verbena blended with a hint soft vanilla.  Sooo yummy...

After about 20 hours, I removed the loaf off of the mold and it was still a little bit soft I dented one side of the loaf with my fingers.  But it was fine when I cut the rest of the loaf.

I also sprinkled some iridescent sparkles and love the effect it gave to the bars.

Happy Soaping!

June 2014 | Energy Cupcakes | KCK Soapery

Made another batch of cupcakes.  This time I used "Butt Naked" fragrance oil to the cake part of 4 cupcakes.  Description for this fragrance oil includes the fact that it contains vanillin which will discolor soaps to shades of brown.  The above picture showed the darkening of the base as expected.

Ingredients include Olive oil, Palm oil, Coconut oil, Castor oil and Cocoa butter.  I used titanium dioxide for the white and neon pink for the frosting.  Fragranced with Butt Naked for the brown base and Aromatherapy Energy for the frosting and some of the cupcakes as well.

This picture is just to show how the fragrance oil darken the soap on the left.

June 2014 | First Pencil Line using Cocoa Powder | KCK Soapery

I am pretty happy with the result of the cocoa powder pencil line.  I was not sure about the amount I was spreading but I am definitely glad the powder is visible and made a line albeit a bit crooked.

Colors used were deep purple, stained glass yellow, woodland green and titanium dioxide.  Fragranced with wildflower honey and lavender.  The hubby said it smelled fresh with a hint of cinnamon, cloves and baby powder.  Ingredients were my usual Coconut oil, Olive oil, Rice Bran oil, Palm oil, Mango butter, Castor oil.  I also oven processed this batch.

My mom and I did a drop swirl layer and spread it with cocoa powder and then did another layer of drop swirl and another layer of cocoa powder.  We cut the loaf using a wide kitchen knife with the help of the mitre box to keep a consistent thickness of the bars.  This batch is the first soap loaf I did not use the crinkle soap cutter.  I though it might be too much with the drop swirl and the pencil line to also have a crinkle cut.  Hope you guys will like it.  My ten year old said he is finally proud of my soap.

Happy Soaping!

June 2014 | Red White and Blue | KCK Soapery

My mom's second batch of soap.  A friend suggested a red, white and blue soap and my mom decided she would like to try the tiger swirl.

Ingredients were olive oil, coconut oil, rice bran oil, avocado oil, mango butter, rice bran oil, palm kernel oil and castor oil.

The hubby had a sniff of the soap and said he would buy this soap in a heartbeat. The soap bars are "unscented". We originally decided on adding wild flower/honey and lavender fragrance oil but as you can see in the video, we had a little mishap that distracted us and we forgot to add the fragrance oil.  We realized it while we were pouring the batter to the mold.  I did add some fragrance to the batter we planned to make into cupcakes.  Still needs to practice piping a higher frosting without plopping some frosting on top.

We oven processed this batch and I liked how the colors turned out.  Some ash formed on top.  I asked a soaping facebook group about how to clean up this aesthetic problem.  I put together all suggestions and ran the loaf under running hot water.

There are still remnants of ash in this picture but they cleaned up good after I dried off the water with paper towel.

This picture showed the back of the soap.
