October 2014 | Chocolate Lavender | KCK Soapery

 

Made this batch on Sunday, I sliced a bar off yesterday (Monday) but had to stop since the loaf was too soft.  I cut the rest of the loaf today (Tuesday) just because I am starting to get impatient.  But it was still a little on the soft side.

 

 

Ingredients were my usual Coconut oil, Olive Oil, Rice Bran Oil, Palm Oil, Mango Butter and Castor Oil.  I have been playing with the amount of each of the different oils.  This particular recipe turned out to be the softest of them all. 

 

 

Skin loving additives added were Tussah silk and white kaolin clay. 

 

 

The texture of the soap batter was just perfect for piping.  The chocolate brown layer was fragranced with Chocolate Lover's while the white and purple were scented with lavender essential oil.

 

 

I am happy with the result.  Just have to wait a few more days before I can unmold the little ghosts and snowflakes.

  

 



September 2014 | Bubblegum Agave | KCK Soapery

 

 The video below will show how I was in a "panic" mode right from the beginning of the soap batter making.   The near disaster started when I realized I forgot to dilute my colors with some oils.  I had to add colors to thickened soap batter and just poured my titanium dioxide to the rest of the batter.  Definitely not the right way to add colors.

 

The bubblegums were made with "melt and pour" soap.  They were added on to an Agave scented handmade soap.

 

 

These colorful balls were added on top of the piped soap frosting to give it some texture.

 

Agave soap ingredients include Coconut oil, Olive oil, Rice Bran oil, Palm oil, Mango Butter and Castor oil.

 

 

Skin loving additives used were silk and kaolin clay.

 

 

The soap were made on Friday, we were away Saturday and it sat for a total of 48 hours before being cut. 

 

 

It was still a little soft when I cut the bars and the MP balls did perspire and are a little dewy.  But aesthetically they look just as planned.  We shall see how they perform in the shower or bath.

September 2014 | Eucalyptus & Spearmint | KCK Soapery

I was informed that a guy who had tried one of my giveaways (grandpa's 90th birthday party) enjoyed the soap and would like to have a full size bar of it.

 

 

This recipe includes Coconut oil, Olive oil, Rice Bran oil, Mango butter, Palm oil and Castor oil.  Scented with Eucalyptus/Spearmint blend.  Additives were Tussah silk, White Kaolin clay, colloidal oatmeal and aloe vera.  I sure hope he would like this new recipe which include more skin loving ingredients than before.

 

 

Ready for cutting.  Colors were woodland green and titanium dioxide for white.

 

 

This was an in the pot swirl and drop swirled into the mold.

 

 



September 2014 | Pink Camo | KCK Soapery

 

It was suggested that since hunting season is here, I should also make some camo soaps for the ladies who loves hunting as well.

 

Ingredients include Coconut oil, Olive oil, Rice Bran oil, Palm oil, Mango butter and Castor oil.  Additives Tussah silk, white kaolin clay, colloidal oatmeal and aloe vera.

 



 

This batch was scented with Falling In Love which described as a charming blend of Blackberry, Jasmine, Lemon, Vanilla and Musk.  I sure hope the female hunters would love this.

September 2014 | Bergamot/Tarragon | KCK Soapery

 

I was told that some people really love the scent of Bergamot.  I ordered the fragrance oil and made a small batch with it using my smaller mold since the other mold was busy with a camo batch.

 

 

Ingredients were Coconut oil, Olive oil, Rice Bran oil, Mango butter, Palm oil and Castor oil.  Colors were stained glass lemon yellow, woodland green and titanium dioxide.  The yellow started out looking more like peach color but it turned more yellow after 24 hours.

 

 

I added tussah silk, aloe vera powder, colloidal oatmeal and kaolin clay.

 

 

It was a little on the soft side when I cut the bars this morning.  Although I like how the colors turned out just the way I wanted, I am not so thrilled with the swirling.

 

 

September 2014 | Unscented Camo 2 | KCK Soapery

 

The hubby has been asking for another camo soap for the past couple of weeks.   I was hesitant because I was afraid I might not be able to do an exact duplicate of my previous camo soaps.  With the hunting season already here I had to produce.  So here is my second unscented camo soap.

 

 

Ingredients include Coconut oil, Olive oil, Rice Bran oil, Palm oil, Mango Butter, Castor oil and Avocado oil.  Colored with woodland green, activated charcoal, titanium dioxide and cappuccino mica.  Since even hunters will enjoy good skin loving additives I added Tussah silk, colloidal oatmeal and Kaolin clay.

 

 

I am quite happy with how the colors turned out.  

 



September 2014 | Avobath In The Pot | KCK Soapery

 

Always up for a new challenge so when I received a request for an Avocado base soap I quickly studied what might work and this is what my friend who likes playing with food recipes and I came up with.

 

 

Love pictures of a newly molded soaps and I got the lighting just right for this one.  Ingredients suggested was of course Avocado oil and Sweet Almond oil.  I found a recipe online with Palm oil, Palm Kernel oil and I added my favorite ingredients Mango Butter and Coconut oil.

 

 

Colors used were woodland green, stained glass yellow and titanium dioxide.    Additives added were my newly found favorite Tussah silk, colloidal oatmeal and kaolin clay.

 

 

Fragranced with Avobath and we used the "in the pot" swirl for this batch.

 

 

The hubby described the scent as "lemony clean".  I liked the creaminess of the look and the glide of the soap loaf.  It is so shiny and smooth.  But with tiny specks of white which we realized (after watching the video) was due to the fact that we did not do enough blending after we transferred the titanium dioxide to the main soap batter.  Since I add titanium dioxide only for making the soap white, let's just pretend the specks were intentional.

 

 

Over all we are happy with what we produced.  Can't wait for this batch to completely cure so we can check out how it will perform in the shower or bath.

September 2014 | Cranberry Fig Peppermint | KCK Soapery

 

I am not sure about this batch.  It was meant to be a Christmas soap batch but my colors morphed.  I used the same colors I used for my first Christmas batch in the post before this, but used a slab mold this time.  My 6 year old daughter said it looked so simple since the soap is just plain white with decorations only on top.  It shows how creamy the white part really is and I liked that look though. 

 

 

The picture above was taken right after I finished the designs.  It was not as I had planned but the hubby had a peek when he came home and said "I see Holly".

 

 

Picture above is copied from Wikipedia and it was the look I was aiming for.

 

 

This was how it looked like 24 hours after being insulated in the wooden mold.  The green morphed with shades of purple and the red is not as bright as expected.

 

 

Ingredients used were from the new favorite recipe which includes Coconut oil, Olive oil, Rice Bran oil, Palm oil, Mango butter, Castor oil and Avocado oil.  Skin loving additives added were Tussah Silk, colloidal oatmeal and white Kaolin Clay.  I also added peppermint essential oil to the cranberry fig fragrance oil.

 

 Should I still call this my "Christmas Soap" or just "A Fall Soap"?

September 2014 | Cranberrry Fig | KCK Soapery

 

My first batch of soap for the first week of school.  This was made with Christmas colors.  Colors used were Titanium Dioxide and white sparkle mica for white, americana red oxide and green mica shimmer.  I also sprinkled iridescent glitters on top.  I had hoped and envisioned a deeper penetration of the colors into the soap.  But I think this would still work.  What do you think?

 

 

 The hubby came home, looked at the mold and said "Christmas".  So glad I don't have to explain what the soap was designed for.  When asked how the scent was, he said it smelled like "nature".  I used Brambleberry's Cranberry Fig fragrance oil.

 

 

 For this batch I used my recent favorite recipe which includes Coconut oil, Olive oil, Rice Bran oil, Palm oil, Mango butter, Castor oil and Avocado oil.

 

 

Skin loving additives were tussah silk, white kaolin clay and colloidal oatmeal.
 

 

The iridescent glitters add to the holiday theme but the white sparkle mica is not evident in the soap.
