September 2017 | Christmas Gift | KCK Soapery

A friend at work wanted to be ready for Christmas. This was what I came up with. I hope "J" and the recipients will like them as much as I love making soap.

These gifts were made with melt and pour soap.

Oils added were Coconut oil, Olive oil, Rice Bran oil, Palm oil, Shea butter, and Castor oil. Scented with Mistletoe and Ivy fragrance oil and a hint of Peppermint essential oil.

Red mica and titanium dioxide for white.

Blending the oils, butter and lye solution.

Poured the white base.

Poured the red in the middle at different heights.

Made two more lines on the sides.

Made the swirl using chopstick.

Added the gifts.

I am pleased by the result of this batch.  Everything turned out just as expected.

Hope you guys like these bars.

Thank you for stopping by!

Enjoy!

September 2017 | Lavender Essential Oil | KCK Soapery

This batch was inspired by a family member who likes essential oils.

I decided to make this very natural, no added colors or fragrance. Oils used were Olive Oil, Rice Bran Oil, Coconut Oil, Palm Oil, and Castor Oil.  I also used two butters, Shea Butter and Mango Butter and scented with Lavender Essential Oil.

I always love the look and feel of the oils and butters emulsifying.

Poured the batch onto the mold.  Just as natural, plain, and simple.

I got an itch and just had to do some artsy stuff.  Using spoon, I gave the top some texture.

Added some lavender buds in the middle. The buds were added while the soap was still wet in the mold.
I forgot to take a picture of it.
This picture was taken after I unmolded the soap.

Some of the lavender buds are still just loosely attached and came off.  But I like the contrast it gave to the soap.

September 2017 | Baby Giveaways | KCK Soapery

Baby giveaways scented with lavender and mint fragrance oil.

Coconut oil, olive oil, rice bran oil, castor oil, palm oil, mango butter,

Oils and butter with the lye and water solution. As you can see, there is a big difference with the color I produced using tea from the previous post.

I decided to use white and blue for the babies' beds.

Mixed the white to the rest of the batter.

Dropped the blue at different sides and depths of the white batter.

Gave the bowl a little swirl.

Poured  the batter into three different molds.

Laid babies onto their beds.

I am happy with the way they turned out.  I hope the people receiving them will like them too.

August 2017 | Lavender Mint | KCK Soapery

My first batch made with the microwave I received as a birthday gift from my family.  I now no longer need to climb up and down the stairs to melt my oils and butters.

These were scented with Lavender and Mint fragrance oil.

Oils used are my usual olive, coconut, rice bran, palm oil, castor oil and mango butter.

Colors are yellow and black using activated charcoal.

Hope you like what you saw and come back for more. We took a lot of pictures on the making but my computer refused to download them. We shall see what tomorrow brings.

Thank you for stopping by!

August 2017 | Minions | KCK Soapery

These were made for a "Minions" themed party.

Trying to get the right shade of blue, by adding teal and blue.  Yellow was the combination of yellow and gold.

Used my favorite skin-loving oils for this cupcake recipe which include the following olive oil, palm oil, coconut oil, rice bran oil, castor oil and cocoa butter, and mango butter.

Divided the soap batter as above. I just wanted to add a little white to add more contrast to the blue and yellow.  This batch is scented with lavender and mint fragrance oil.

The base of the cupcake.

Tried to pipe the yellow without covering the blue.

While school shopping, we found a book of minion stickers. Just perfect timing.

Hopefully people receiving these little party favors are going to love them.

May 2017 | Abalone and Sea | KCK Soapery

The design was inspired by the name of the fragrance oil used.  Two shades of  blue and white swirled and textured to look like the sea.

Oils used were the usual, coconut, olive, rice bran, palm, castor and mango butter.

The darker blue have more blue powder.  White is done using titanium dioxide.

Then I alternately poured the different colors in the pot.

Once all the colors were in the pot.  I then poured the soap batter into the mold.

Topped with the darker blue on one side with the white in the middle and the lighter blue on the other side.

Swirled the top using chopsticks.  I could just have stop here, but my vision was for a sea.

So I textured the top with a teaspoon to give the look of waves.

Off the mold.

Hope you like the final look.
