September 2017 | Christmas Gift | KCK Soapery

A friend at work wanted to be ready for Christmas. This was what I came up with. I hope "J" and the recipients will like them as much as I love making soap.

These gifts were made with melt and pour soap.

Oils added were Coconut oil, Olive oil, Rice Bran oil, Palm oil, Shea butter, and Castor oil. Scented with Mistletoe and Ivy fragrance oil and a hint of Peppermint essential oil.

Red mica and titanium dioxide for white.

Blending the oils, butter and lye solution.

Poured the white base.

Poured the red in the middle at different heights.

Made two more lines on the sides.

Made the swirl using chopstick.

Added the gifts.

I am pleased by the result of this batch.  Everything turned out just as expected.

Hope you guys like these bars.

Thank you for stopping by!

Enjoy!

September 2017 | Mistletoe and Ivy | KCK Soapery

This batch was inspired by it being September, which reminds me that Christmas is just around the corner.   Fragrance oil used was Mistletoe and Ivy which is described as blends of cedar leaf, Siberian fir, English holly, holiday mistletoe, cooling camphor, trailing ivy, sandalwood, vetiver, and frosted musk.

White plastic bowl contained olive oil, rice bran oil and castor oil.  Glass bowl contained melted coconut oil, palm oil, mango butter and lye solution in the small plastic container.

Colors used were green, red and white

I used a cardboard as a divider for the mold.  One side was intentionally made bigger than the other.

After pouring the white base, I alternately poured green and red on the smaller side.

Slowly added the white to balance the amount of soap batter on both sides.

Removing the cardboard.

It was exactly how I intended the soap to look like after cardboard was removed.

Poured all the rest of the soap batter.

Using a chopstick, I drew little circles that cross over the white batter.

The loaf looked the way I envisioned.

It was still a little tacky and did not cut as smoothly as I wanted.  The bars have some rough surfaces where some soap got stuck onto the cutter.

But over all, I am very happy with how the soap turned out.

Thank you for stopping by.

January 2015 | Snowflakes | KCK Soapery

Snowflakes soaps made for our local art consignment store "Artful Expressions" for the snow season.

Scented with Mistletoe and Ivy described as blends of cedar leaf, Siberian fir, English holly, holiday mistletoe, cooling camphor, trailing ivy, sandalwood, vetiver, and frosted musk.

Also made small snowflakes embedded in a tinted with blue clear soap base sprinkled with iridescent glitter.

Tried two differently tinted clear soaps.  I like the blue better, how about you?

Did the layered blue and white to these snowflakes mold.

Happy Soaping!

January 2015 | Hidden Ivy | KCK Soapery

First cold process soap for 2015 unmolded today.  This batch was concocted using my new favorite ingredients Olive Oil, Coconut Oil, Palm Oil, Castor Oil, Shea Butter and Mango Butter.

The design technique was inspired from Anne Marie of Bramble Berry.  Since I can't find a thicker hanger that I can easily manipulate.  I used the wire from a flower arrangement and stick a straw to make the circumference bigger.

I used woodland green, teal, brown mica and titanium dioxide for my colors.

Added more butters than my previous recipe, just to see if I can detect any difference in how the soap will behave, look and feel.

Fragranced with Mistletoe and Ivy which is described as blends of cedar leaf, Siberian fir, English holly, holiday mistletoe, cooling camphor, trailing ivy, sandalwood, vetiver, and frosted musk.

Poured the white base then the brown.

Covered the brown with another layer of white, followed by the teal which was covered and top with the green and covered again with white.

Pulled the straw wire up.

Layered the top with the leftover colors.

Swirled the top using chopstick.

Let the loaf sit for five days.  This was the longest I tried since the previous ones had been tacky when unmolded.  This came out intact but still soft enough to cut.

The delicate swirls in the middle are almost too thin in some of the bars.  The kids thought they look like little trees.

Happy Soaping!!!

The batch was scented with "Mistletoe and Ivy" fragrance oil.  A favorite winter scent described as blends of cedar leaf, Siberian fir, English holly, holiday mistletoe, cooling camphor, trailing ivy, sandalwood, vetiver, and frosted musk.

Wishing that everybody who try these soaps would enjoy them.

Thank you very much for dropping by!

November 2014 | Winterland | KCK Soapery

Soap interpretation of the winter season with snowmen and snowflakes.

Oils used were Coconut, Palm, Olive, Rice Bran, Castor and Mango Butter.  The snowmen and snowflakes were made using melt and pour soap base.

White was achieved using titanium dioxide, green was a mixture of woodland green and green shimmer mica and the red was a hodgepodge of different reds I have including stained glass red, strawberry red and apple red with red glitter as well.

A modified hanger swirl alternating red, green and white and trying to keep the colors in the middle of the mold.

Poured the rest of the white on top and ran the wire in the middle a few times for hanger swirl effect.

Textured and blend the colors on top using spoon.

Added the snowmen and snowflakes when the soap was hard enough for them to stay put.

Sprinkled the whole batch with iridescent glitter.

I waited 48 hours before unmolding the loaf.  It was still a little tacky but held its shape.

This batch was scented with Mistletoe and Ivy, described as a fragrance blend of cedar leaf, Siberian fir, English holly, holiday mistletoe, cooling camphor, trailing ivy, sandalwood, vetiver, and frosted musk.

Happy Soaping!
