March 2021 | Kentish Rain | KCK Soapery

This batch was made for a friend who now works at a private medical laboratory. She decided to use my handmade soap for laboratory week this coming April.  Their logo colors are teal and black .  I sure hope I got the color motifs right!

I made the soap using a recipe from the book "Milk Soapmaking" by Anne Watson.  It includes coconut oil, cocoa butter, palm kernel oil, olive oil, and rice bran oil.  The process was saponification provided by goat's milk and lye (sodium hydroxide solution).  Colors used were blue mica, activated charcoal for black ,and titianium dioxide for white.

Fragrance oil used is called "Kentish Rain" which is described as a fresh and earthy mix of basil, green leaf, lily, rose, violet, sandalwood, and tonka bean from Brambleberry.

Here is a video of this batch:

January 2020 | 50 Shades Valentine's Soap | KCK Soapery

Happy New Year 2020!!!

This is my first batch of soap for the new year.  It's made for Valentine's Day and I used a new heart shaped embed I found online.  As you can see in the picture above, the design was good but the texture of the soap was disappointing.  It's what I get for playing with recipes and fragrance oils or maybe I was a little too excited for my first batch that I may have poured the batter too early or removed it from the mold a little early.

Hopefully, I get to post most of this year's soap projects more than last year and that I make a better soap next time.

Ingredients used were olive oil, coconut oil, palm oil, rice bran oil, shea butter, castor oil, mango butter and lye.
Colors were titanium dioxide for white and red mica.
Fragrance oil used is called 50 Shades it is described as: a seductive marriage of tained rose and wild geranium with addictive "can't live without it" notes of bergamot and gold amber.

March 2018 | Abalone and Sea Real Estate | KCK Soapery

Custom-made soap for a friend who is also a real estate agent here in Midland, Michigan.
She loves the Abalone and Sea fragrance and this is what I came up for her.  I hope she and her clients will like them.  She likes to incorporate the seashells into the soap and I decided to add a small Michigan state design onto the soap as well.

I used my favorite recipe which includes coconut oil, olive oil, rice bran oil, palm oil, mango butter and castor oil.  Fragrance is described as a fresh ocean scent with notes of day lilies, sea spray, watery florals and musk.

Michigan state and the seashells were made using a melt and pour soap base.

Poured white soap batter as base and poured a green and a blue line in the middle.

Covered the lines with white and repeat.

Drizzled the leftover green and blue on top on the white.

Made a swirl using chopstick.

Added the toppings made.

Out of the mold and cut.

Can't wait to show you the second batch I made for my real estate friend!

March 2018 | Pink Camo | KCK Soapery

Pink Camo scented with Exotic Coconut fragrance oil. This handmade soap is described as sweet, creamy coconut with hints of warm vanilla, and exotic musk.

Ingredients are my favorite with include coconut oil, olive oil, rice bran oil, palm oil, mango butter and castor oil.

That's my daughter doing most of the spooning for this batch.

I think she did good with getting the look of a pink came.

February 2018 | Sugar and Mint | KCK Soapery

Fragrance is described as sugar crystals infused with fresh dried peppermint and spearmint leaves.

I made this goat's milk soap with my new favorite recipe which includes coconut oil, olive oil, rice bran oil, palm oil, mango butter, shea butter, and castor oil.

I used only green color for this batch.  Then, poured the uncolored batter into the mold and dropped the green in three lines.

Ran a hanger through the lines and covered the top with the rest of the uncolored batter.
Then drizzled the leftover green.

Made a swirl on top using chopstick.

Sprinkled the top with sugar pearls and glitter.

Out of the mold.

Love the end result of this batch.

Enjoy!

February 2018 | Sun and Sand | KCK Soapery

My mom who was visiting really loved this scent! My supplier described it as a tropical beach breeze of sweet orange blossom, bright citrus, french lavender and powdery musk.

This batch contains my new Goat's milk recipe which includes: Coconut oil, olive oil, rice bran oil, palm oil, shea butter, mango butter and castor oil.

Added coffee grounds to give that sandy look and a little exfoliation to the uncolored batter.

Dropped the yellow and blue batters to the base.

Gave it a little swirl with a spatula.

Carefully poured the swirled yellow and blue batter on top of the sandy layer and drizzled the leftover yellow and blue batters.

Swirled the top with my ever handy dandy chopstick.

Out of the mold.

Ready to be enjoyed!

February 2018 | Mother's Love | KCK Soapery

Scented with a blend of peonies, hyacinth, day lilies, apple blossoms, and soft bergamot.  I love the swirl on this batch but the camera did not do justice to it.

Ingredients are my usual Coconut oil, Olive oil, Rice Bran oil, Palm oil, Mango butter, and Castor oil.

Colored with titanium dioxide for white and red mica. I alternately poured red and white in the middle of the mold and did a bit of hanger swirl.

Covered with white after the hanger swirl and drizzled the leftover red batter on top.

Swirled the top with chopstick.

Out of the mold.

I am quite happy with the hanger and chopstick swirl in this batch.

Enjoy!

February 2018 | Puppy Love | KCK Soapery

Scented with a blend of violet, gardenia, jasmine with fresh grapefruit, vanilla, and white woods.

Another goat's milk soap with my recently concocted recipe that includes Coconut oil, olive oil, rice bran oil, palm oil, shea butter, mango butter, and castor oil. I thought of just using activated charcoal for black and titanium dioxide for white for this batch.

Once saponified and at the right trace, I divided the batter into two.

Made a zebra swirl.

Covered the top with white.

Drizzled the leftover black batter.

Made a swirl with chopstick on top.

Out of the mold.

Cut and ready for you to enjoy!
