January 2022 | Lemon Whipped Body Butter | KCK Soapery

Here is the first for 2022 and hopefully will continue!
Thank you so much "M" for the order.

It has been a while since I made any body products. Covid cancelled the craft shows I usually joined which are mostly hosted by friends locally.

This batch is made of shea butter, avocado oil, mango butter, coconut oil, and olive oil. Skin-loving additives used were arrowroot powder and goat's milk.  Scented with lemon essential oil.  Then, I added some yellow mica for color.

Thank you so much for stopping by!

March 2021 | Kentish Rain | KCK Soapery

This batch was made for a friend who now works at a private medical laboratory. She decided to use my handmade soap for laboratory week this coming April.  Their logo colors are teal and black .  I sure hope I got the color motifs right!

I made the soap using a recipe from the book "Milk Soapmaking" by Anne Watson.  It includes coconut oil, cocoa butter, palm kernel oil, olive oil, and rice bran oil.  The process was saponification provided by goat's milk and lye (sodium hydroxide solution).  Colors used were blue mica, activated charcoal for black ,and titianium dioxide for white.

Fragrance oil used is called "Kentish Rain" which is described as a fresh and earthy mix of basil, green leaf, lily, rose, violet, sandalwood, and tonka bean from Brambleberry.

Here is a video of this batch:

March 2020 | Pure Goat's Milk Soap | KCK Soapery

My First Pure Goat's Milk Soap - No water used
Jackie's First Handmade Soap

My brave friend Jackie really wanted to learn how to make handmade soap for a while now.  She finally decided to do it when her goat "Snoopy" started producing milk! We already have this date scheduled before the coronavirus self quarantine was imposed.  So we continued with the session but did it online through facetime instead of being in our houses where kids abound and with both of us being medical laboratory scientists.  Just for precaution!

Congratulations, Jackie, for making your first handmade soap using only goat's milk for liquid.

Meet "Snoopy"! She absolutely likes snooping. Jackie said "it is because she is always checking my sleeves for mysteries.  May have treats, maybe not.  She doesn't know but she checks them".

Thank you very much, Jackie, for Snoopy's milk.  I get to try doing all goat's milk soap without investing too much on it.

This is our set-up. This is an ice water bath to prevent the sugars in the milk from scorching.  It is always better to use cold almost slushy or even frozen milk with this recipe so the milk don't get too hot when you add the lye.  Usually I only do half milk or cream and let the lye dissolved in water first and then allow it to cool down before adding the milk/cream.  This is my first full goat's milk and no water is being added to this batch.

Jackie decided to incorporate oatmeal and poppy seed to her batch.

I kept mine plain.

We did not use any fragrance or essential oils for this batch.  This batch only included olive oil, coconut oil, goat's milk, and lye.  As you can see in the above pictures, I kept my soap plain and Jackie decided to add oatmeal and poppy seed to hers to give that pretty texture.

While the moms were making cold process goat's milk soap.  Jackie's kids also made melt and pour soap.  Look at how cute they turned out.  They used orange/lemon zest and food coloring to add color and texture to the final product.

Here is the video of our goat's milk soap making using facetime session.  Hopefully we can do this side by side next time!

Enjoy!!!

February 2018 | Sun and Sand | KCK Soapery

My mom who was visiting really loved this scent! My supplier described it as a tropical beach breeze of sweet orange blossom, bright citrus, french lavender and powdery musk.

This batch contains my new Goat's milk recipe which includes: Coconut oil, olive oil, rice bran oil, palm oil, shea butter, mango butter and castor oil.

Added coffee grounds to give that sandy look and a little exfoliation to the uncolored batter.

Dropped the yellow and blue batters to the base.

Gave it a little swirl with a spatula.

Carefully poured the swirled yellow and blue batter on top of the sandy layer and drizzled the leftover yellow and blue batters.

Swirled the top with my ever handy dandy chopstick.

Out of the mold.

Ready to be enjoyed!

February 2018 | Puppy Love | KCK Soapery

Scented with a blend of violet, gardenia, jasmine with fresh grapefruit, vanilla, and white woods.

Another goat's milk soap with my recently concocted recipe that includes Coconut oil, olive oil, rice bran oil, palm oil, shea butter, mango butter, and castor oil. I thought of just using activated charcoal for black and titanium dioxide for white for this batch.

Once saponified and at the right trace, I divided the batter into two.

Made a zebra swirl.

Covered the top with white.

Drizzled the leftover black batter.

Made a swirl with chopstick on top.

Out of the mold.

Cut and ready for you to enjoy!

Thanks for stopping by!
