October 2017 | Autumn Spiced | KCK Soapery

The vision for this was pumpkin pie with autumn leaves.

Leaves were made from melt and pour soap. Colors used for the cold process were activated charcoal for black and red, and brown mica mix for the pumpkin.

Mixing lye with the Coconut oil, Olive oil, Rice Bran oil, Palm oil, Mango butter, Shea butter, and Castor oil.  Scented with Spiced pumpkin fragrance oil.

Poured the pumpkin batter as my main soap color.

I had hoped to have the black go into the soap deeper but it started hardening faster than I thought.

So I swirled in the color using a spoon.

Gave the loaf some texture using spoon as well.

Added the leaves on top.

Tried to space the leaves equally.

Out of the mold.

Finally cut.

Thanks for dropping by!

September 2017 | Christmas Gift | KCK Soapery

A friend at work wanted to be ready for Christmas. This was what I came up with. I hope "J" and the recipients will like them as much as I love making soap.

These gifts were made with melt and pour soap.

Oils added were Coconut oil, Olive oil, Rice Bran oil, Palm oil, Shea butter, and Castor oil. Scented with Mistletoe and Ivy fragrance oil and a hint of Peppermint essential oil.

Red mica and titanium dioxide for white.

Blending the oils, butter and lye solution.

Poured the white base.

Poured the red in the middle at different heights.

Made two more lines on the sides.

Made the swirl using chopstick.

Added the gifts.

I am pleased by the result of this batch.  Everything turned out just as expected.

Hope you guys like these bars.

Thank you for stopping by!

Enjoy!

March 2017 | Shamrock Soap | KCK Soapery

Good Luck soap made with shamrock melt and pour soap on one side and treasures on the other.  This part came out as envisioned! The challenge was in the making of the rainbow.
As you can see above, the rainbow got a little distorted.

The project started out with the preparation of the rainbow colors, the shamrocks, and the treasures.

Ingredients include the following oils, coconut, olive, rice bran, palm, mango butter, castor oil, and Cranberry Chutney fragrance oil from Brambleberry.

Blue was dropped to the white to create the sky.

Red was poured on top of the sky.

Yellow and green.

Blue soap.

Treasures added on top of purple.

Covered the rainbow with a layer of sky and sprinkled with green and red glitters.

Added the clover leaves when the soap batter was not too soft and can keep the leaf upright without sinking.

Removed from the mold a day after.

Happy Saint Patrick's Day to you all!

February 2015 | Oatmeal Stout | KCK Soapery

Presenting my first soap after a two week hiatus. Inspired by the coming Saint Patrick's Day.  This is my version of a Leprechaun's Lair.

I used teal, green shimmer and a golden yellow for my colors.  Fragranced with "Oatmeal Stout" fragrance oil.  Was thinking of making another beer soap, but I wanted to see how the fragrance oil will behave with water first.  It did thicken a bit but manageable enough that I was able to do the "in-the-pot" swirl with it.   I was hoping for the Irish hubby to be reminded with beer upon smelling this but he said it smells like "Cinnamon".

Of course with Leprechauns in mind, I have to make some golden balls as well.

These were made with "melt and pour" soap and they came out just perfect.

Oils and butters with the colorants. Oils included in this new basic recipe I concocted and love,  Olive Oil, Coconut Oil, Palm Oil, Castor Oil, Shea Butter and Mango Butter.  The green and teal ended up looking the same or maybe the fragrance oil morphed the color since the final product did not have both shades of green.

After pouring the soap batter.  You can still see a lot of the white.

Before cutting, most of the white has morphed to brown.

I think the batch turned out ok considering that it has been two weeks since I last made a handmade soap made from scratch.  Will be observing for more morphing of colors in the next few days.

Thank you for stopping by!

November 2014 | Melt and Pour Giveaways | KCK Soapery

If you need giveaway soaps but don't have the 3-6 weeks for cold process soaps to cure, we can always use melt and pour soaps.  They set up in a few minutes and can be use right away.  Last week was melt and pour week for giveaways. The above heart soaps were for a wedding giveaway.

These are party giveaways.

Thank you very much!

November 2014 | Loofah Soaps | KCK Soapery

Loofah soaps has been appearing a lot lately in my feeds.

I cut the loofah into the thickness of the round molds I have.

Poured liquefied white "melt and pour soap" colored with some teal to give it a milky tint, fragrance with China Rain.

These turned out just as I wanted.
